UNICEF Kid Power gives kids the power to save lives. By getting active with the UNICEF Kid Power Band, kids go on missions to learn about new cultures and earn points. The points are in turn converted into funding from partner organizations, parents and fans. Funds are used by UNICEF to deliver lifesaving packets of therapeutic food to severely malnourished children around the world.
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF engaged Ammunition to design the UNICEF Kid Power Band, a durable, child-friendly wearable-for-good. UNICEF Kid Power is a program of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, and is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors Disney and Star Wars: Force for Change and Target.
With the UNICEF Kid Power Band, we created a simple, fun design appealing to tech-savvy kids who want a wearable that complements their gadgets and their personal style. The design of the band makes it easy enough for a 7 year-old to understand and set up, and cool enough for a teenager to wear and use on a daily basis. Made of soft, durable materials, the Kid Power band is comfortable to wear for extended periods and sized so it doesn’t interfere with school activities like writing. With bright colors and an iconic look, the band inspires kids to want to be a part of the Kid Power Team.
The on-band user interface works in tandem with the UNICEF Kid Power app, and provides enough features, notifications and fun animations to keep kids motivated and entertained without being too distracting.
Packaging is designed to stand out at retail and appeal to kids with its round, friendly shape. With strong, clear messages highlighting the Kid Power mission and the UNICEF brand, the packaging speaks to parents seeking positive and empowering products. A clear case showcases the product in a simple way and can be re-used to store the band, or any other items a kid might want to keep safe.
