How do you design the perfect audio solution to support the ultimate workout? Combine Beats by Dr. Dre’s passion for high-performance audio with LeBron James incredible athleticism to create Powerbeats2 Wireless.  Ammunition partnered with Beats to design the company’s first wireless earphones that represent the true intersection of sports and music through amazing sound, comfort, and freedom from wires.

The design for Powerbeats2 Wireless supports an immersive sound experience for athletes of all kinds—one that lets them make the most of their workout. We focused on creating a comfortable, secure fit—investing a great deal of time in development and testing to design a flexible earhook system that works for a wide variety of ear shapes and sizes. We specified durable, sweat and water resistant materials throughout the product from the in-ear section, through the body and even to the flat tangle free cable wrap-around. Working in close collaboration with Beats’ engineering team, the Ammunition team refined the design to be incredibly lightweight and compact, and at the same time highly functional. We also designed a hard shell case for safe storage when not in use.


Along with the product design for Powerbeats2 Wireless, Ammunition created the out-of-box experience. For the first time, Beats chose to include a clear front window to allow consumers to view the product before buying. The end result is 2mm thick acrylic perspex that ensures protection and allows full visibility, all while maintaining the premium look and feel that Beats is known for.
