The Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, has announced the winners of the 59th annual GOOD DESIGN award, and the Ammunition-designed Element by Fuego has won in the household products category.

GOOD DESIGN aims to recognize "the world’s most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary, and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered basic product and consumer design." This year's competition received a record number of entries from over 40 countries.

The GOOD DESIGN competition was founded in Chicago in 1950 by Edgar Kaufmann Jr. and designers Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames. The competition bills itself as "the oldest and the world's most recognized program for design excellence worldwide."

Winning entries will be displayed at the annual GOOD DESIGN SHOW at the Chicago Atheneum in June 2010.
